Krikštonys Mound

The mound is located on a promontory. The site is oval, elongated in an east-west direction, 12×10 m in size, surrounded by a rampart 0,8 m high, 6,5 m wide, the highest on the western edge (5 m high, 23 m wide). The surface of the rampart is paved with stones. The slopes are steep, 14-15 m in height. The embankment has been dug up in three places. The mound is covered with mixed forest. To the west of the mound, on an area of 0,7 ha, there is a settlement at the foot of the mound, where striated and rough pottery and slag were found. The mound dates back to the 1st – 13th centuries.
