Mėčiūnai Mound
The mound is located on a large hill on the western shore of Lake Ančia. The site is quadrangular, elongated in a north-south direction, 25×16 m in size, with a 1 m higher southern end. On the western slope, 2,5-3 m below the site, there is a 40 m wide natural terrace. The slopes are steep, 15-25 m high. The mound is covered with pine trees. In 2001, Eugenijus Ivanauskas excavated an area of 8 m² in the mound, discovered a hearth and a cultural layer of an earlier Stone Age settlement on the site of the mound with flint artefacts. The mound dates back to the 1st millennium.
