Poet Onė Baliukone’s hometown in Kančėnai
You will be greeted by an almost 100-year-old garden in the homestead of the creator, who has earned her respect for Lithuania and her native land. A memorial stone dedicated to the memory of the poetess was erected near it. After opening the ancient gate of the farmstead, the path will lead you to a unique place in the garden – the Violet Cat’s abode. The sculpture of a wonderful purple cat sitting on a bench is a visualization of the poet’s significant dream (the author of the sculpture is folk artist Artūras Zienka). In the place of the non-surviving residential house, a Book House was made and built according to individual order, in the shade of the apple trees in the garden – a Reading Bench. An exclusive space has been created for reading, relaxation, communication, creative activities, and events.
