The Nemunaitis Mineral Spring

One can easily find the Nemunaitis mineral spring that spurts in the Lankai village, the Nemunaitis district neighbourhood, on the right bank of the Nemunas valley. Its water is bluish and odourless. This spring does not freeze up even in wintertime. In the second part of the XIX century several travellers and researches of the Nemunas River described these springs in their writings. According to them, there was a small town with bathing-place where two wooden buildings stood near the springs. One of these buildings was meant for patients, the other – for the manipulation treatment. There were six rooms; each of the rooms had a bath in it. They took spring water, heated it and used to treat patients. The bathing-place of Nemunaitis was desolated when a resort of Birstonas was started to build.
