Place of Massacre and Burial of Jews (Baraučiškės village)

On 11 September in 1941, 953 Jews from Seirijai were shot at this place: 229 men, 384 women and 340 children. A memorial stone was built at the site after the war. The memorial plaque is inscribed with words in Lithuanian and Hebrew. The Lithuanian text reads: “The blood of 953 Jews – children, women and men – was spilled here. They were brutally murdered by the Nazis and their local collaborators on 11 September 1941.
